About Study Course

Objective

To acquaint students with the study process at RSU, the structure of the Faculty of Pharmacy and the organisation of the study work at the Faculty of Pharmacy, and to develop understanding of pharmacy as a profession and pharmacist's future job opportunities. In the Placement in Propaedeutics acquaint students with pharmacy premises and their functions, the daily tasks of a pharmacist, the first skills for various jobs in a pharmacy, as far as possible in connection with the preparation of medicines in a pharmacy.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.As a result of the study course students will get acquainted with the organisation of study work, will be able to find and become acquainted with the internal regulations of the RSU regulating study work, will be able to describe the main fields of pharmacy. As a result of Placement in Propaedeutics, the student will be able to describe the main pharmacy premises, the functions to be performed in each room and the sanitary and hygienic requirements. The student will be able to recognize the role of a pharmacist as an advisor in providing pharmaceutical care.

Skills

1.As a result of the study course students will be able to apply the internal regulations of the institution regulating study work, to recognise the possible work places of a pharmacist. As a result of Placement in Propaedeutics, the student will be able to perform the simplest tasks in a pharmacy under the supervision of a pharmacist or pharmacist's assistant (design with price tags and arrange medicines, health care products and food supplements in accordance with the requirements of storage and regulatory enactments, clean pharmacy premises, participate in compounding).

Competences

1.As a result of the course the student will be able to compare the job opportunities of a pharmacist in different fields (pharmacy, scientific research laboratory, pharmaceutical industry, etc.) and will be able to perform the simplest auxiliary work in a pharmacy.

Participation in group work by interviewing pharmaceutical professionals and preparing a presentation. During the Placement in Propaedeutics (total amount - 20 hours) the student participates in the following works: 1) in the arrangement and cleaning of pharmacy premises, 2) in the washing, drying, sterilization and placement of equipment, 3) in the packaging of various dosage forms, 4) draw up records of packaging work for 3-5 different dosage forms, 5) by assisting an assistant, participates in the compounding of various dosage forms, 6) participates in the pricing and placement of various dosage forms. 7) describes 4 patient service situations, reflecting the pharmacist as an advisor in the provision of pharmaceutical care.

50% of the examination grade is made up of a presentation after a meeting with pharmaceutical professionals. 50% of the examination grade is the evaluation of placement. After completing the Placement in Propaedeutics, the student must submit to the moodle TURNITIN program as soon as possible a diary signed and stamped by the head of the pharmacy, which also contains the student's description. The student receives a mark on the placement after checking the diary and individual interviews with the placement supervisor remotely Zoom online or at the Department of Applied Pharmacy in person.
