About Study Course

Objective

To ensure acquisition and improvement of theoretical knowledge and practical skills according to the requirements of the geriatrician specialty and related to the assessment and treatment of geriatric patients.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.Incidence of medical problems, peculiarities of clinical course, frail patient, end-of-life care, healthy lifestyle. Preventive measures.

Skills

1.- To assess the state of health of an elderly patient and analyse the data obtained. - To diagnose and treat multiple chronic diseases in the elderly. - To recognise the symptoms of diseases and syndromes, atypical features of the course of diseases, cognitive and behavioural disorders. - Ability to work in an interdisciplinary team to develop a care plan. - To effectively manage and set medical care goals and end-of-life care.

Competences

1.- To make decisions on the choice of diagnostic methods for the elderly. - Development and implementation of a treatment plan for geriatric patients. - Assessing the self-care capacity of elderly people, decision-making in the organisation of assistance options. - Evaluation of the results of the treatment and rehabilitation process. - Planning and improvement of health care.
