About Study Course

Objective

To ensure the acquisition and development of theoretical knowledge of tactics for homoeopathic case analysis; homoeopathic remedy selection strategies and prescription principles; to form an understanding of the phenomenon of primary exacerbation, biphasic action of homoeopathic remedies and prognosis in case of acute diseases, according to the requirements of the homoeopathy specialty regulations, enabling the doctor to develop analytical skills and apply the acquired knowledge in clinical practice.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.• of the sensitivity of a sick person, recognition of causes and sustaining factors, understanding of the levels and layers of the disease, as well as awareness of the possibilities of the treatment process; • of the response to therapeutic stimuli; the direction of treatment; • of deterioration response and trial response; • of understanding the evolution of the case, prognostic factors – patient vitality and stage of pathology; • of factors that may influence the evolution of a clinical case; • of intercurrent diseases, use of other allopathic medicines and previous homoeopathic treatment; • knowledge of important aspects of preparation selection and choice strategy, key symptoms for preparations; • knowledge of the Hahnemann approach to health promotion, healthy lifestyle and understanding the obstacles to recovery; • of the commonalities and differences between homoeopathic and conventional prognosis.

Skills

1.• ability to apply the basic principles of case analysis to acute cases of disease, selecting a hierarchy of symptom selection; • ability to distinguish between a set of constitutional symptoms and to create a totality of symptoms; • ability to distinguish constitutional types of patients and apply constitutional therapy; • ability to recognise and explain the primary and secondary effects of preparations • ability to interpret the response produced by the preparation in terms of its primary and secondary effects, and to use this knowledge to substantiate a therapeutic strategy; • ability to recognise and remove obstacles during homoeopathic therapy.

Competences

1.• is aware of the possibilities of the treatment process; • able to interpret and apply to treatment the knowledge of the causes and sustaining factors of disease; • able to explain the concepts of a single dose and minimum dose; • ability to critically evaluate the indications for the choice of the right preparation; • ability to use a limited number of strategies to select a preparation; • ability to select the potency of the preparation according to the patient’s sensitivity; • ability to apply basic knowledge of dilutions and scales thereof and to understand strategies for changing dose, rhythm, potency or preparation; • able to recognise and control deterioration or trial response; • ability to identify obstacles in the course of homeopathic treatment; • ability to anticipate the therapeutic process; • ability to navigate Materia Medica (books and websites) and find the necessary information; • ability to use and apply repertorisation techniques; • ability to use conventional medical knowledge and modern diagnostic techniques, combined with an understanding of the basic principles of homoeopathy and philosophical-therapeutic concepts; • ability to apply research skills in work.

At the end of cycle, there is a test of theoretical knowledge (multiple choice test questions, open-ended theoretical questions) and a test of practical knowledge: - case analysis and identification of an appropriate preparation. The lecturer assesses theoretical and practical knowledge on a 10-point scale.
