1.1) understands the most common chronic diseases and the pathological algorithm of those diseases; 2) understands the main clinical symptoms; 3) understands the general principles of treatment for chronic diseases and the importance of nutrition in their treatment and prevention.

1.Independently evaluates the symptoms of chronic diseases and draws up a menu with arguments and evaluates its nutritional value.

1.Independently and responsibly integrates the knowledge of chronic diseases with nutritional treatment; is able to choose as well as to discuss and critically assess the choice of different types of diet in the case of chronic diseases. In accordance with Regulations of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Latvia and the Decision of the Senate of the University of Latvia as of 29.06.2015. No. 211, at the end of the course, students' knowledge is evaluated on a 10-point scale according to the following criteria: the amount and the quality of the obtained knowledge, acquired skills and competence in compliance with the planned learning outcomes. Attendance of lectures is mandatory. Intermediate assessment: 1. Active attendance of seminars (25%) 2. Practical works – 25%. 3. A written final examination – 50%.
