About Study Course

Objective

Provide oral, facial, and maxillofacial surgery residents with knowledge of vascular pathologies, emergency assistance in case of vascular thrombosis, thrombus removal operations, and vascular reconstructive and prosthetic operations.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.Determines and is able to evaluate, diagnose and coordinate treatment in acute cases of vein and artery blockages, and provide emergency assistance. Provide emergency care in cases of major vascular injuries. Interpret radiological findings in cases of aneurysms and A-V malformations, and recommends the necessary treatment.

Skills

1.Exposition of vein. Ligation of the artery. Puncture of the artery. Vein suturing. Artery suturing. Placing of tourniquet. Placement of vascular clips. Harvest of vein transplant.

Competences

1.Competent in the diagnosis of venous and arterial thrombosis. Competent to provide emergency aid and refer the patient to a vascular surgeon for further treatment. Competent to choose the right method of vascular reconstruction in patients with head and neck tumors.

Participate in general and local examinations of patients in the vascular surgery department. Under the supervision of a vascular surgeon, analyze the anamnesis, physical and radiological findings and purposefully prescribe auxiliary methods, and interpret the obtained data. Justify the indications for surgical treatment, relative contraindications and the need for treatment. Assist the vascular surgeon in performing surgical treatment according to the established diagnosis. Prepare and present the clinical cases seen during the course for patients with various diagnoses (5-10). Analysis and interpretation of literature.
