About Study Course

Objective

Promote students’ understanding of the research development process and observance of academic integrity and research ethics, develop skills to independently search, select and critically analyse sources of scientific literature, formulate the purpose and question (s) of the research, as well as develop academic writing skills for the development of the semester paper, providing the basis for the development of Bachelor’s thesis project.

Concept of the course paper is developed.

The student formulates the topic of his/her course paper, the research objective, topicality, problem, questions, tasks, search strategy and initial list of literature. The volume of the work is up to 2 pages.

The work agreed with the supervisor is submitted in e-studies after the lecture and seminar topic "Justification of the topicality of the research, formulation of problems, objectives, research questions".

Literature and theoretical report

Develop a literature and theoretical review that includes the characteristics of the variables considered, the theoretical framework, the conceptual map and the interrelationships between the constructs. Recommended size 10-12 pages. The work should be based on at least 20 scientifically based sources.

Create a table of contents with the planned structure of the work.

Submit the work, agreed with the supervisor, in e-studies after the lecture and seminar topic "Literature review and theoretical framework. Creation of the content of the work".

Methodology overview

Part of the methodology review is developed.

Methodological analysis of 5-7 empirical studies is carried out, summarizing information on - study designs, sample characteristics, measurement instruments used, data collection procedure, data analysis methods, methodological limitations.

Recommended volume approximately 2-3 pages.

The work agreed with the supervisor is submitted to e-studies after the lecture and seminar topic "Research Methodology Review."

Drawing up conclusions and proposals.

Conclusions are formulated that directly answer the research questions, the limitations of the work are critically analyzed and further directions of research are outlined.

Recommended volume about 2-3 pages.

Bachelor’s thesis project

Based on the research conducted and the conclusions drawn in the course paper, the student develops a structured bachelor's thesis project that serves as a preparatory stage for the development of the bachelor's thesis. The recommended volume is approximately 2-3 pages.

The plan should include:

  • Justification of the relevance and problem of the research;
  • Research objective and research questions;
  • Planned research design;
  • Description of the planned sample;
  • Planned data collection procedure;
  • Planned measurement instruments;
  • Planned data analysis.

A review of the semester paper has been developed for a member of the group, in accordance with the requirements.

Filing a review in time is a must for a student to be admitted to defense.

Presentation and defence of research

The defence of the course paper is held in an open format, with the participation of the author of the work, the supervisor and the members of the commission. The student prepares a structured presentation (approximately 7 minutes), in which he/she presents the topic of the research, its relevance, problem, aim, research questions and tasks, theoretical and methodological framework, main conclusions, proposals and the idea of the bachelor’s thesis project.

The work is formatted according to the methodological requirements for formatting the course paper - the optimal volume of the work is 20-25 pages, excluding annexes, using a list of sources, as well as a title page, table of contents, abstracts and a list of concepts and abbreviations used in the work. The number of sources used cannot be less than 20-25 scientifically reviewed sources.

Students who have successfully completed all independent works within the specified deadline, have submitted their course paper for plagiarism checking in Turnitin and have submitted a review of another course paper within the specified deadline are admitted to the defence.

If any of the mandatory conditions are not met, the student is not admitted to the defence of the course paper.
