About Study Course

Objective

To provide theoretical knowledge in the area of paediatric intensive care.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.Lists the indications and preconditions for PN. Implements parenteral nutrition (PN), monitoring of PN, recognises complications of PN. Active response of the internal environment, electrolytes, hydration, coagulation disorders and objectives of therapy. Knows potential harmful effect of pain, evaluates pain in children. Use of knowledge about analgesic therapy possibilities, enteral and parenteral therapy choice possibilities. Use of personnel, patient and parent-controlled analgesic therapy.

Skills

1.Calculates parenteral nutrition infusions for an oncological patient, prescribes analgesic schemes, usage of complex approach and tactics in case of oncological situations.

Competences

1.Students master emergency situations in paediatric oncology, parenteral and enteral nutrition principles in paediatric oncology, shock therapy principles.

After each module (rotation cycle) medical resident’s theoretical and practical knowledge is assessed in a 10-point grade system by the medical resident’s supervisor of the rotation cycle by making a respective record in the medical resident’s book.
