About Study Course

Objective

Promote the acquisition of knowledge on the main pharmacological groups of medicinal products, their mechanism of action and their use. Promote awareness of drug activity in the body, receptor exposure, pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, interactions, side effects and toxicology.

Preliminary Knowledge

Physiology, biochemistry, anatomy, microbiology.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.Will be able to recognise the medicinal product by its pharmacological group.

2.Will be taught to explain the mechanics of how medicines work.

3.Will be able to assess the basic principles of prescribing.

4.The pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic differences between the medicinal product will be able to be identified.

5.Will be able to identify the main indications, contraindications, side effects and risks, interactions of the medicinal product.

Skills

1.Will be able to explain the mechanisms of operation of the medicinal product.

2.Select and use the most appropriate medicines in specific clinical situations.

3.Will be able to assess the potential side effects, interactions, risks of the medicinal product in appropriate clinical situations.

4.Will be able to assess the toxicological risks of the medicinal product and find an appropriate solution in case of overdose.

Competences

1.Use the acquired knowledge by providing appropriate medicines therapy across different patient and disease groups based on evidence-based medical data.

2.To analyse the effects of medicinal products on the human body, to evaluate the risk-benefit ratio of medicinal therapy.

3.Select and analyse information about the medicinal product, its use during the treatment process.

4.Will be able to analyse and apply evidence-based medical data in practice.
