About Study Course

Objective

Acquaint doctoral students with the guidelines of modern ethics in healthcare and research and their application in practice – current challenges and possible solutions, develop ethically justified attitudes toward towards patients and colleagues, as well as other people involved in medicine and research.

Knowledge

1.Know terminology of ethics, regulatory documents related to health care and research processes, basic principles and codes of ethics.

Skills

1.Know key issues related to health care and research ethics, able to address problems, identify ethical challenges related to the context of biomedical research, analyse cases and analyse ethical issues related to the research design, evaluate the ethical arguments used in the description of biomedical research.

Competences

1.Knowledge of key issues related health care and research ethics, problem resolution, identification of ethical challenges in research, analysis of research design, evaluation of ethical arguments in the descriptions of biomedical research.

An essay, choosing one topic of the list of proposed topics or, in agreement with the lecturer on the current problem of own doctoral thesis, provided that it corresponds thematically to the topics covered in the course. In the lecture of the course lecturer, which takes place in the form of a dialogue, the doctoral student gives a 5-minute presentation on the chosen topic. The doctoral student searches for literature independently. The essay is submitted one day before the examination and its minimum length is 1000 words. The aim of the essays is to develop cognitive analytical competence.
