Preparation for seminars and small group assignments

-
-

Students independently study the sources and materials listed in the required reading and the e-learning environment in preparation for lectures, seminars, and group assignments. Depending on the topic and nature of the assignment, independent work may involve individual tasks (e.g., essay preparation) or participation in group assignments, including the preparation of presentations. Individual student contributions to group work may be taken into account when determining the overall assessment of group presentations, for example in seminars.

Small group assignments and presentations in seminars and in video format constitute a unified assessment format aimed at developing students’ ability to collaborate in teams, academically analyze, and present topics in work and organizational psychology in a reasoned and well-argued manner.

Students working in small groups (3 members) discuss empirical observations of performance management processes (strengths and challenges) in one or more organizations of their choice (workplace or internship setting).

If none of the group members has prior experience with or exposure to performance management processes, the group’s task is to interview a person who has such experience.

As an outcome of the group work, students submit a group discussion summary in the form of a video recording of up to 5 minutes (via Zoom or another format), highlighting the most characteristic challenges and proposing recommended solutions from a work and organizational psychology perspective.

6.

Case analysis in small groups un group prezentation.

40.00% from total grade
10 points

A randomly assigned case analysis and presentation is prepared in small groups (4–5 students per group). Students draw a case description prepared by the instructor and have 30 minutes to prepare its analysis and presentation. During group presentations, members of the other groups ask additional questions.

The use of group-based case analysis and presentation as the examination format is intended to assess students’ ability to academically analyze psychological processes in the work environment, integrate theoretical knowledge, collaborate in a team, and argue for their conclusions in discussion, while taking into account principles of professional ethics in psychology and the legal regulation of the work environment.

The examination assesses the content of the presentation (50% of the total grade), presentation delivery (20%), the quality of questions posed to members of other groups (15%), and the quality of responses to questions from other groups (15%). Students working within the same group receive the same grade, unless the group decides otherwise. The group may decide to reduce the grade of one or more of its members for the case analysis and presentation (by up to 20%) if the respective member has made an insufficient contribution or no contribution to the group work.
