About Study Course

Objective

To raise students' awareness of the impact of adventure sports and activities on human health and their potential applications when working with clients or organising events independently.

Preliminary Knowledge

No prior knowledge is required, but a doctor's note is required for participation in high-impact activities (rock climbing, orienteering, obstacle courses, SUP, hiking).

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.As a result of the course, students will: - Be able to distinguish and recognise adventure sports and their definition - Students will be able to name and explain adventure sports and their differences - Students will be able to identify the basic concepts of adventure sports and activities and their impact on physical and mental health.

Skills

1.As a result of the course, students will be able to: - Apply the acquired knowledge through practical participation in extreme sports and outdoor activities - Apply elements of extreme sports and outdoor activities in their practice.

Competences

1.Using the acquired knowledge and skills, students will be able to critically assess the suitability of activities for the client, the patient's abilities and potential risks. They will also be able to adapt physical exercises according to the sport or activity. Based on practical experience, they will be able to identify the basic equipment required and its application to the practice of adventure sports.

During the course, students develop their understanding and gain practical experience in adventure sports and activities. Independently carry out research work on a chosen adventure sport or activity. Criteria for assessment of independent work: - Relevance of the topic - Completion of the work requirements - In-depth study of the topic - Presentation.

The assessment is based on the participation of students and the results and analysis of the submitted practical lesson reviews. The final grade consists of 50% class attendance and practical assessment (attendance is compulsory), 25% written work at the end of the course, 25% presentation of own independent research work. At least 70% of the practical work must be completed in order to pass the written examination and the presentation of the research work. Additionally, the student must independently attend an adventure sport event (spectator or participant) and give a free-form presentation during 3-5min.
