About Study Course

Objective

Carry out an independent study within the framework of the study course on topics relevant to the profession of sports and fitness coach.

Preliminary Knowledge

In order to successfully develop the study course “qualification work”, the student needs the following knowledge, skills and competences acquired within the framework of the study programme:

Knowledge:

  • knowledge of the theoretical basics and basic concepts of the sector;
  • understanding of research methods in the professional field;
  • understanding the principles of academic writing and the structure of the qualification work.

Skills:

  • ability to independently select, analyse and critically evaluate sources of information;
  • ability to formulate a professional problem and identify the purpose and objectives of the study;
  • ability to select and apply appropriate study methods;
  • ability to present the results of the study in writing in a structured and reasoned manner.

Competencies:

  • ability to integrate knowledge and skills acquired during studies in solving the professional problem;
  • ability to independently plan, organise and implement the development of qualification work;
  • ability to adhere to the principles of academic ethics and quotation.

Selects and justifies the subject of the qualification work, formulates the problem, purpose and tasks of the study.

Prepare intermediate qualification work concepts and improve the content of the work in consultation with the qualification work supervisor.

At the end of the first semester, the student shall submit an application for a subject (justification of the subject, literature review, study plan). The supervisor of the qualification Paper shall assess the ability of the student to analyse and use scientific literature, to substantiate the chosen topic of the study in a reasoned manner, to plan the research process and to cooperate with the supervisor of the qualification Paper.

Defence of qualification work

The final assessment consists of an evaluation of the results of the development of the qualification paper and presentation/defence thereof, in which the Commission assesses the student’s ability to integrate theoretical knowledge, analyse the results of the study and substantiate the conclusions in a reasoned manner. After defending the qualification work, the student must receive a positive assessment (at least 4 points).

Detailed evaluation criteria are described in the Regulation on Writing and Defence of Qualification Paper, Student’s Research Paper, Diploma Paper, Bachelor’s Thesis and Master’s Thesis.
