About Study Course

Objective

To ensure comprehensive awareness of biopsychosocial aetiological and developmental factors, classification, diagnostics, emergency care, therapy and prevention of psychiatric disorders and diseases.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.Knowledge on the aetiology, pathogenesis, clinical manifestations, course and basic principles of therapy of psychiatric disorders and diseases; prevention of diseases and disorders.

Skills

1.The skill of diagnosing psychiatric diseases and disorders in accordance with the ICD-10 classification by means of comprehensive evaluation of patient’s condition in dynamic change and respective reflection thereof in medical documentation; the skill of treating the patient, to develop an individual care plan for the patient by including the required examinations, medication therapy, occupational therapy, therapeutic exercise, etc.

Competences

1.The competencies of cooperation with the patient in order to ensure the evaluation of their condition in dynamic change, compliance and therapy results; organisation of care at an inpatient institution and in outpatient care by providing emergency psychiatric care; cooperation with other care workers, patient and their family members, during the therapy process; educating them on the course of the disease and therapy; awareness of the limits of one’s professional competence.

The students must acquire: • the knowledge on the manifestation, development and course of psychiatric disorders and diseases, • the skills of diagnosing, evaluating and differential diagnostics of psychiatric disorders and diseases, • knowledge and skills for treatment of psychiatric disorders and diseases by determining targets and therapy plan with the purpose of choosing optimum therapy and prevention methods with the consideration of biopsychosocial aspects. To read additional literature sources, to attend thematic conferences of LPA and LAP.
