About Study Course

Objective

To provide theoretical and practical skills "Maternal and child health. Gynecology and obstetrics" according to the family (general practice) doctor's specialty - bylaw to prepare specialists who can provide independet, continuous and comprehensive care of patient and his family members and help the patient to make a choice between the offered health services, ensur the patient's ability to better physical, psychological and social activity, are able to assess the patient's health status, diagnose and treat diseases in certain competences. To prepare for certification in family doctor physician specialty, according to the Latvian Republic normative documents.

Knowledge

1.It has knowledge and understanding of normal female anatomy and physiology, reproductive stages of development:of prenatal care and inquiries,knowledge and understanding of the main threats to the woman's life and health,Oriented preventive nature of the work, rehabilitation activities,understanding of women's specific health problems

Skills

1.Skills that strengthen family medicine education programs during - investigation, methods of treatment, disease prevention and health promotion measures: Gynecologic procedures: - Gynecological examination, - Breast examination, palpation, - Bacteriological and cytological swab removed from a vagina, cervix, - Hormonal contraceptives question explanation, - IUD insertion and removal, - Advice on cervical ring imposition - Timing of pregnancy, - Deliveries Skills of women in care: - Counseling on issues related to birth control, - IUD Insertion and removal of cervical circumference Inserting and removing, - Bladder catheterization, - Onkocitoloģijas not removed, - Breast palpation, - Pregnant women advice, - Normal pregnancy diagnosis and management, - Postnatal care period. Health Check and the related consultations: - Knowledge of diagnostic methods, - The physical working capacity assessment, - Explaining the harmfulness of tobacco, - Sexual education, - Psychological counseling problem cases, stress management, - Education on hormone replacement therapy for women during menopaus.

Competences

1.The acquired expertise allows justify decisions, if necessary, carry out additional analysis: - Be able to explain environmental change on the spread of disease in the population, to understand the preventive, diagnostic and therapeutic methods in this regard. - Be able to evaluate the patient's complaints, their relationship with the patient's medical condition. There is a broad understanding of diseases and their risk factors for the most common diseases in the population, chronic disease care, diseases due to disabilities for positions that require urgent assistance. - Have an understanding of the prophylactic and manipulation of diagnostic use in primary health care. - Ability to provide patient treatment in the primary care level, to organize the rehabilitation, if it is necessary. - Understanding of diagnostic possibilities for primary and secondary health care level about the opportunities to send patients to a specialist, if necessary.
