About Study Course

Objective

To provide the opportunity to acquire theoretical and practical basic knowledge for teaching and improving various sports (orientation, walking, tourism, skating) in a sports and health class, in accordance with the content of the education of general educational schools.

Preliminary Knowledge

Knowledge of foreign languages at a sufficient level to understand specialist literature in English. Basic knowledge from school sport-orienteering, Nordic walking, tourism, skating. Study courses acquired: human anatomy and dynamic anatomy.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.Identify the benefits of safety, physical fitness and health promotion in orienteering, tourism, nordic walking and skating. Understands the special terminology in Latvian and English

2.Prepare instructional and handouts (diagrams, maps, exercises) for teaching the basics and orienteering of outdoor life skills and tourism at school. 1.Plan an outdoor activity with basic Nordic walking skills, including using modern technologies – mobile apps and/or GPS recording devices.

2. Development of a laboratory work on Nordic walking – assessment of individual skills, technique developing a proper technique improvement methodology for oneself (exercises, proportioning).

3. Preparation for the theoretical examination in Nordic walking – test and practical test, in accordance with instructions of the teaching staff.

Outdoor Roller skating activity

During studies, students, using lecture material and various other sources of information, perform independent work:

1. Plans outdoor activities with basic skating skills, including using modern technologies - mobile apps and or GPS logging devices.

2. Skating; development of Sanaa laboratory work – evaluation of individual skills, techniques by developing methodologies for improvement of the appropriate technique (exercises, dosing).

3. Preparation for the theoretical test of skating - test and practical test, in accordance with the instructions of the teaching staff.

During studies, students, using lecture material and various other sources of information, perform independent work:

1. Plans outdoor activities with basic tourism skills, including using modern technologies - mobile apps and or GPS logging devices.
