Preliminary Knowledge

Basics of human anatomy, basics of physiology and pathology, basics of microbiology, pharmacology, immunology, epidemiology.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.Students will have acquired knowledge and understanding that allows to understand the classification of infectious diseases according to their etymological factor, mode of spread, danger to the individual and public health, understand specific, typical, pathogenetic and other symptoms, understand necessary investigative measures and methods, know general principles of pharmacotherapy, understand principles of specific prevention, applying them to the individual.

Skills

1.The student will be able to understand and interpret the results of laboratory tests, understand and participate in the implementation of preventive measures necessary to limit the spread of the disease, successfully communicate with patients, patients' relatives and other health care professionals in the field of infectious disease prevention, interpretation and medical treatment to cooperate with patients, patients' relatives, colleagues in an atmosphere of dignity, observing the norms of medical ethics and respecting the rights of patients, to improve oneself as a future medical practitioner and health promoter in the context of specific and non-specific prevention of infectious diseases.

Competences

1.As a result of the course students will be able to cooperate with medical practitioners, determine a plan for drug treatment of infectious diseases for an individual patient, evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of drug treatment methods, linking with patient examination data, monitor the course of drug therapy, evaluate results and prepare necessary information for other medical specialists.
