About Study Course
Objective
Develop and promote the acquisition of knowledge on the application of digital technologies, information technologies and digital telecommunications technologies in art therapy, their capabilities, limitations and specificities. Develop the skills to apply digital technologies, information technologies and digital telecommunications technologies in remote consultation. Critically evaluate existing remote interventions in specialization, summarize methods for solving the chosen problem in the specific target group, and choose the most appropriate art therapy methods.
Preliminary Knowledge
All study courses of the 1st and 2nd semester in the professional Master’s study programme “Art Therapy”.
Learning Outcomes
Knowledge
1.1. Students are familiar with the application of digital technology, information technology and digital telecommunications technologies in art therapy, their capabilities, limitations and specificities.
2.Students define the nature of intervention and the main possible ways of digital intervention in art therapy, are familiar with the possibilities and limitations of digital intervention and remote therapy.
Skills
1.Students are able to apply digital technologies, information technologies and digital telecommunication technologies to art therapy.
2.Students are able to create an art therapy plan integrating digital technologies, digital interventions into it.
3.Students use critical thinking abilities by analysing existing digital technology applications and interventions in art therapy, defining efficiency criteria and prerequisites, choosing the most appropriate methods for providing therapy.
Competences
1.Students critically evaluate existing interventions in remote art therapy, compile methods, solve the chosen problem in the specific target group, as well as choose the most appropriate methods for providing therapy.
2.Students shall evaluate digital opportunities in art therapy and interventions on the basis of the criteria acquired; develop a methodology to address the selected issue in the specific target group/customer based on differentiated target group needs.
3.Students critically evaluate the use of digital technologies and interventions in art therapy, discuss its strengths and potential risks in a reasoned manner, offer solutions to mitigate identified risks, use digital technologies in the practice of art therapist.

Final assessment is a cumulative assessment consisting of: 1) individual work (20%) 2) group work (30%) 3) Final Paper (50%) Final Paper assessment (50%). Students work in small groups (2 participants), each group develops one fully digitally feasible examination period and records it in video format. Examination period is based on a clearly defined purpose. Examination period in the delivery of integrated digital technology assistance (at least 2 digital solutions for the potential and success of the target). A mandatory requirement is the provision of assessment/feedback of the study course at the end of the study course on the e-learning platform. The provisions regarding the use of AI within the framework of the study, as well as the guidelines in the study process have been observed: https://www.rsu.lv/maksligais-intelekts-augstakaja-izglitiba |
