About Study Course
Objective
Preliminary Knowledge
Learning Outcomes
Knowledge
1.Students will be able to describe basic properties of cells and main cell types, history of discovery of the cell, modern methods used for the study of cells, components of biological membranes and their role in the maintenance of cell function, cellular organelles and main events attributed to the cytoplasmatic organelles, tissue adaption, tissue barriers, biocompatibility; cell and tissue examination methods and novel future possibilities.
Skills
1.Using bright-field optics and examining paraffin-embedded tissue sections, students will be able to distinguish the major cell components, will be introduced to commonly used cytological staining techniques; will be able to evaluate a specialized cell shape and size, and structurally based communications, as well as identify major artifacts appearing due to inadequate sample processing. Students will be able to describe and distinguish main tissue groups and organ systems, describe modern morphology methods and their necessary equipment.
Competences
1.Student will be able to distinguish by the use of a microscope: main tissue groups, structure of the main organs; evaluate quality of a particular slide, interactions and localization of tissue structures within the histological slide; will be able to document cell biology and histology slides and to work with the special literature.
