About Study Course

Objective

To acquaint periodontology residents with the most important general and periodontal tissues related immune pathologies (immunodeficiencies, autoimmune diseases, etc) and their clinical manifestations. To give an overview of possibilities for immunological laboratory methods.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.Knowledge about clinical manifestations of most important immune pathologies, including oral manifestations and possibilities of laboratory examination. Knowledge of the basic principles of immunotherapy.

Skills

1.Can recognize the symptoms of immune pathology. Is able to determine the indications for immunological laboratory examination. Is able to evaluate the simplest results of immunological laboratory tests.

1.Uses acquired knowledge in clinical practice.

The most important human immune defense mechanisms. Non-specific immunity, mucosal local immune defence structure, components, operation. Immunodeficiency, common clinical symptoms, and oral manifestations; reasons of immunodeficiency; primary and secondary immunodeficiency; laboratory examination, indications, methods, and clinical assessment.

Antibacterial, antiviral, antifungal immunity, their clinical manifestations, diagnostics, role in periodontal disease. Clinical and laboratory diagnostics of immunocomplex and autoimmune diseases, their oral manifestation, detection of autoantibodies.
