About Study Course

Objective

To ensure acquisition and improvement of theoretical knowledge and practical skills in surgery according to the requirements of sport medicine physicians’ specialty.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.Knowledge of mutual interconnection of sports medicine as a multidisciplinary field of medicine and surgery. Theoretical and practical knowledge obtained in examination of patients with surgical diseases, diagnostics, dynamics of diseases, making up of a suitable post-surgery rehabilitation exercises programme, by taking into account necessary physical activity restrictions.

Skills

1.Ability to reasonably select the most suitable examination methods in case of surgical diseases, assess examination results and prepare a treatment plan, awareness on the measures to be taken in acute situations at the prehospital stage.

Competences

1.Competence in solving different clinical cases, diagnosis, etiopathogenesis, treatment, prevention and care.

Theoretical knowledge is acquired in 3 seminars and individual work with literature. During practical classes students monitor patients under the supervision of a physician eligible to provide such training, participate in examination, assist in operations and perform surgical and medical manipulations. A medical resident acquires different surgical, diagnostic and treatment methods, manipulation to be made, as well as methodology of invasive and non-invasive medical technologies.

At the end of the study course the head of the residency programme evaluates the acquired theoretical knowledge in written and oral form. The written test shall be assessed according to the 10-point grading system.
