About Study Course

Objective

To learn commonly used vocabulary and deepen conversation skills necessary to interview a patient efficiently: complaints and diseases, affecting factors, lifestyle; sentence building.

Preliminary Knowledge

Having completed one elective Latvian course or the 5th semester's mandatory course in Latvian.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.On successful completion of the course students will be able to use vocabulary describing symptoms and their progress as well as list factors that affect one's health.

Skills

1.On successful completion of the course students will be able to formulate questions in Latvian about various aspects of symptoms and grasp the point of the answer.

Competences

1.On successful completion of the course students will be able to use the skills they gained in their previous Latvian courses to interview patients about their complaints in detail.

At the end of each semester – an oral test on the topics covered during the semester: a conversation with a patient according to a given pattern. The final grade consists of the 1st-semester test results (50%) and 2nd-semester exam results (50%). At the end of the course, every student must fill the course evaluation survey.
