About Study Course

Objective

The aim of the course is to provide knowledge and understanding of diseases of the oral mucosa, salivary gland pathologies, the most common manifestations of general diseases in the oral cavity, the most common bone diseases, their diagnostic methods and treatment options involving general medical specialists.

Knowledge of anatomy and oral morphology, hystology.

1.At the end of the course the student will know: • Anatomy and histology of oral mucosa. Appearance of healthy oral mucosa. • Primary and secondary lesions of oral mucosal diseases, classification of diseases of oral mucosa. • Etiology and appearance of diseases characterized by vesiculobullous lesions. • Etiology and appearance of diseases characterized by ulcerative lesions. • Etiology and appearance of diseases characterized by white lesions. • Red and red/white lesions in oral mucosa, pigmented lesions and papillary lesions. • Appearance of systemic conditions and diseases in oral mucosa. • Peculiarities of the lip and the tongue and pathological developments. • Appearance of HIV infection and AIDS in oral mucosa. • For bone formations and cysts in the mouth.

Skills

1.• To perform an examination of the oral mucosa, to collect a full history from the patient, to analyze the patient's complaints. • To perform patient complaints to the clinical picture of the disease and perform diagnosis based on disease classification. • Differentiates oncological and non-oncological diseases of the mouth, recognizes changes in diseases of the mouth. • Decide to prescribe the necessary additional laboratory examinations, to involve general practitioners in the complex treatment of the patient.

1.As a result of the study course, students will be able independently to apply the knowledge acquired practically and theoretically about diseases of the oral mucosa, will be able to differentiate various changes in the oral mucosa and will be able independently to give specific recommendations for the need for treatment.

Attending lectures and classes is mandatory. The student independently reads and learns the latest literature in oral pathology medical journals, books and websites, prepares for five between exams, reading lecture and class materials on average 3-4 hours for learning one lecture and class. In the practical lessons, work with the patient to examine and evaluate the health condition of the oral mucosa. Fill in the course evaluation form.

During the study course, five test tests (indicated in e-studies) on topics acquired in lectures and classes. All (not less than 55%) tests passed give access to the final exam.

10 points

Final exam written test with multiple choice questions on topics learned in lectures and classes. If 55% correct answers have been provided, the assessment shall be converted into ballots in accordance with RSU Regulations.
