About Study Course

Objective

To develop MA students' skills to choose and use methods and techniques according to the situation and the specificity of the group of clients/patients, to provide MA students with an opportunity to master dance movement therapy methods and techniques in dealing with different groups of clients/patients, to develop the skills to apply therapeutic interventions and techniques in the therapeutic process appropriately.

Preliminary Knowledge

Individual counselling and psycho-dynamics in arts therapies, Assessment principles and process in arts therapy, Basic principles of arts therapy process for different groups of patients, Dance movement therapy I.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.Describe and compare various DMT theories and explain the peculiarities of DMT process organisation while dealing with various groups of clients/patients in different stages of process. Describe the specificity of the individual and group DMT process.

Skills

1.Choose DMT methods and techniques appropriately for different groups of clients/patients, set DMT aims, develops a DMT strategy that is appropriate to the purpose and difficulties and needs of the client/patient group. MA students apply DMT methods and techniques according to the aim of DMT in a simulation and therapeutic situation, lead the DMT process, analyse DMT dynamics and evaluate the obtained results. MA students can partially execute protocols. MA students demonstrate the skills to establish contact with the client/patient in a simulation situation and develop therapeutic relationships, empathically reflect, adapt, provide client/patient verbal and non-verbal support, facilitate change.

Competences

1.Gain experience in choosing the DMT methods and techniques, leading DMT process in a simulation situation. Demonstrate the abilities to analyse the DMT process, the strengths and weaknesses of their own collaboration with the patient, have experience in self-reflection.

Assessment

Individual work

Title

Grade
1.

Individual work

-
-
Independent acquisition of literature (including latest research studies), in order to prepare a presentation about theoretical models in DMT, draw up a plan and conduct a session in a simulation play situation for a group of coursemates about the methods and techniques for a particular group of patients. Completing the course feedback survey.

Examination

Title
% from total grade
Grade
1.

Examination

-
-
Prepared and conducted a session for an individual patient (selected group of patients, age group) in a simulation situation. A theoretical overview of the patient group (difficulties, age characteristics), basic principles of DMT has been prepared. A session was conducted, demonstrating the ability to establish contact with a client / patient in a simulation situation and to establish a therapeutic relationship, to empathetically reflect, to adapt, to provide verbal and non-verbal support to the client / patient, to promote change. An overview of the session is submitted by filling in the protocol of the individual work session, analyzing your work.
2.

Examination

-
-
Prepared and conducted a session for a group of patients (selected group of patients, age group) in a simulation situation. A theoretical overview of the patient group (difficulties, age characteristics), basic principles of DKT has been prepared. A session was conducted, demonstrating the ability to establish contact with the group in a simulation situation and to establish therapeutic relationships, to lead the group process, to promote group development and change. An overview of the session is submitted by filling in the minutes of the group work session, analyzing your work.
3.

Examination

-
-
1) Develop a DMT plan for a specific client/patient group in specific stage of the process (20%). 2) Compile DMT methods in writing for one particular client/patient group (20%). 3) Present theoretical principles of DMT for working with a particular patient group, including references to research (20%). 4) Practically conduct one DMT session; the session is filmed (20%). 5) Prepare and submit reflection, analysis of own work on the session (20%) for both – individual and group work. In accordance with Clause I 3.9 of the RSU Study Regulations, attendance at classes is mandatory and is recorded. At the end of each class, the student is required to submit a completed worksheet that meets the criteria specified in the e-environment. If the criteria are met, the student will receive a "pass" grade.
