About Study Course

Objective

To ensure the acquisition and improvement of theoretical knowledge and practical skills in urology, in accordance with the requirements of the regulation of the specialty of urology, in order to prepare the doctor for certification in the specialty of urology, in accordance with the regulatory documents of the Republic of Latvia.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.Define the etiology, pathogenesis, diagnosis, indications for conservative and surgical treatment of urological diseases; must know the diagnostic methods and instruments used in urology.

Skills

1.Can: provide emergency assistance in acute cases to a patient with urological pathology; create and implement a correct diagnostic scheme and treatment tactics for a patient with urological pathology; perform diagnostic and therapeutic manipulations

Competences

1.Provide detailed theoretical knowledge about the etiology, pathogenesis, symptoms, diagnosis, differential diagnosis of congenital and acquired, acute and chronic urological diseases, as well as indications for conservative and urological treatment of urological diseases. The doctor must learn the diagnostic methods, instruments and equipment used in urology, practical skills of diagnostic and therapeutic manipulations, as well as the practical use of therapeutic methods (operations) for patients with a urological profile in the scope provided for in the program.

Providing urological assistance is in accordance with the requirements of the Latvian Cabinet of Ministers, the Ministry of Health and the Latvian Association of Urologists. The competence of the certified specialist is the diagnosis of urological pathology, conservative and operative treatment.
