About Study Course

Objective

Develop the professional competences of the student in the acquisition of orienteerind and nordic walking techniques, teaching methodology, ensuring safety and planning of the learning process for different target groups.

Preliminary Knowledge

Orienteering acquired, as a sports foreground at secondary school level. Knowledge of foreign languages at a sufficient level to understand the specialised literature, in English and also in Latvian. Orienteering skills and the ability to read a map and understand scale are desirable.

Development and management of a lesson plan for Nordic walking or orienteering

Develop Nordic walking or orienteering activity with basic nordic walking and orienteering skills, including using modern technologies - mobile apps and or GPS logging devices. A description of the activity shall be submitted in the e-study environment.

Fulfilment conditions:

    • a written plan (600-1000 words)
    • to conduct a practical 10 min lesson
    • a presentation (5 min)

task:

    • film your Nordic walking technique (2-3 min video);
    • perform motion analysis based on biomechanics principles;
    • identify at least 3 technical errors;
    • develop an individual improvement plan (exercise, dosage).

Job to submit:

    • Video file;
    • written analysis (600-1200 words).

Evaluation criteria:

    • precision of the technical analysis –
    • identification of 40% of errors and justification –
    • quality of the 30% improvement plan – 30%

to write terms for basic movements in Latvian and English to

submit the work in e-environment.

Assessment of technical - tactical skills applied during orienteering activity based on stage times and GPS, data processing in specialized computer programs.

Fulfilment conditions:

    • a distance official or training (RSU) orientation event
    • a GPS route (in printed or electronic form) shall be submitted
    • in writing (500-1500 words) analysis of route variants
