Objective

Provide knowledge of covert cooperation and problems in ensuring it.

Preliminary Knowledge

Criminal Process, Criminal Law, Legal Institutions, Legal Order of Operational Activity in Latvia and Abroad.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.Students acquire knowledge of application of technical means in operational work in Latvia and other EU Member States, as well as outside the EU. Current problems in organisation the use of technical means.

Skills

1.The student is able to evaluate the situation and the use of appropriate technical means and capabilities in operational work and inter-institutional cooperation.

Competences

1.The student has acquired skills to choose the most optimal technical means.

Study and analyse the norms included in the Operational Activities Law, their efficiency. Compare the Operational Activities Law of Lithuania, the Code of Criminal Procedures of Estonia and the Operational Activities Law of Latvia; identify the most significant differences and assess whether amendments to the Operational Activities Law of Latvia are necessary in the context of the matter under consideration. Examine the classified orders by the State Police for the use of investigation techniques in operational work.
