About Study Course

Objective

To develop students’ skills to perform stroking, rubbing, kneading, pounding and vibration techniques, to develop students’ abilities to explain the effect of massage on the human body and healing effects of massage, to name the main historical stages of the development of classical massage, to develop students’ skills to use appropriate massage oils, to list the qualities of a masseur and duties during the massage session.

Preliminary Knowledge

Anatomy; Normal and pathological physiology.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.As a result of successfully completing the study course, students: • will be able to list massage indications and contraindications; • will be able to remember the main historical stages of the development of massage; • will be able to present the effects of massage and its healing effects; • will be able to name the characteristics and duties of a masseur during a massage session.

Skills

1.As a result of successfully completing the study course, students: • will be able to demonstrate stroking, rubbing, kneading, pounding, vibration techniques; • will learn to choose an adequate and comfortable position of the patient during the massage.

Competences

1.As a result of successfully completing the study course, students: • will be able to use appropriate massage oils; • will be able to introduce the patient to their responsibilities when attending a massage procedure.
