About Study Course

Objective

Give an opportunity for students to gain knowledge about the role, importance and practical application of social rights in the legal system of the Republic of Latvia.

Preliminary Knowledge

Introduction to Civil Law, Human Rights.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.Students will gain knowledge about the specifics of social rights and the possibilities of using state guarantees. Students are able to demonstrate the basic and specialized knowledge of the relevant scientific field, as well as the show critical understanding of the knowledge. Students are able to present the most important concepts of their respective fields, their understanding of the topics, definitions and regularities.

Skills

1.Students will acquire the skills to use and apply social legislation, to make qualitative and lengthy analysis of the particular legislation. Students are able not only to take responsibility and initiative during the individual work but also in the case of a group work. In addition, students are able to guide further learning and professional development for the development of the relevant field and its application in practice. Students are be able to describe and formulate information, problems and solutions in the field of social science. Students can explain and reasonably discuss abot the specifics of the industry not only with professionals but also with non-specialists. Students are able not only use the theorethical skills in particular research, but also can carry out innovative, professional and modern approach of the social problems solutions.

• Analysis of a verdict of European Human rights (in social rights). • An essay on one of the covered topics which is also presented in a class. • Independent test on a topic covered in the previous lecture. In order to evaluate the quality of the study course as a whole, the student must fill out the study course evaluation questionnaire on the Student Portal.

The final grade consists from the essay grade. Deadline for Submission: Works must be submitted on e-study no later than particular date. If the deadline is overdue and the works are submitted and / or sent later. then the mark is posted as a maximum of 9 (nine). If the works are submitted and / or sent later than extended date, the mark is posted as the maximum possible score of 8 (eight). Submission of final works is mandatory. After identified date final works are not accepted and are not corrected.

The final evaluation of the study course consists of: 50% – assessment obtained during the study process (an essay, presentation of the essay, marks for homeworks, assessment for work in groups during the classes, as well as the analysis of verdicts) and 50% – assessment of the final examination.
