About Study Course

Objective

To ensure acquisition and improvement of theoretical knowledge and practical skills in general emergency and elective surgery in accordance with the requirements of the paediatric surgery specialty regulation in order to prepare the doctor for certification in the specialty of paediatric surgeon.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.• knowledge - indications for conservative and surgical treatment of surgical emergencies in adults of different ages (with/without co-morbidities) - drawing up an examination and treatment plan for patients with acute surgical diseases - peculiarities of patient preparation for surgeries of various organ systems, emphasising attention to emergency and urgent operations in general surgery, as well as the basic principles of patient treatment in the pre- and post-operative period - to orientate in the diagnostic methods used in emergency surgery, instruments, as well as the possibilities and principles of surgical treatment Must learn the following: • detailed theoretical knowledge of emergency surgical conditions in adults in cases of acute and chronic surgical diseases; • indications and application of conservative and surgical treatment in emergency surgical conditions in adults with various co-morbidities; • diagnostic methods, instruments and equipment used in general surgery, practical skills for diagnostic and therapeutic manipulations, as well as the practical application of surgical treatment methods for surgical patients; • draw up an examination and treatment plan for patients with acute surgical illnesses; • provide qualified emergency care to patients with acute surgical illnesses.

Skills

1.• skills - to carry out primary dressing of wounds, applying sutures to wounds; - to carry out the complex of emergency measures in case of traumatic shock; - to provide qualified emergency assistance to patients of various ages with acute surgical illnesses, exacerbations of chronic surgical illnesses; - to perform the technique of opening soft tissue abscesses, as well as treatment of infected wounds; - to perform abdominal puncture and abdominal drainage.

Competences

1.- to provide qualified first aid and emergency aid to patients of various ages (with/without co-morbidities) with a surgical pathology.
