About Study Course

Objective

To develop an understanding of the theoretical basis of toxicology, toxicology of specific toxic substances, basic principles of treatment, possible complications and prognosis.

Preliminary Knowledge

Anatomy, physiology, surgery, therapy, intensive care, resuscitation and pharmacology.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.By completing the study course, the student is able to name toxic substances, mechanisms of poisoning, classify the severity of poisoning, describe the basic principles of treatment, explain possible complications and prognosis.

Skills

1.As a result of completing the study course, the student is able to recognise toxic poisoning, assess the risk and severity of acute poisoning, choose the most appropriate treatment methods, explain detoxification methods and predict possible complications.

Competences

1.As a result of completing the study course, the student is able to identify poisoning, assess the risk and severity of poisoning and choose an appropriate treatment method.
