About Study Course

Objective

Promote the development of the professional competence of students in the organisation and management of swimming teaching and learning, taking into account individual opportunities of learners and compliance with the learning outcomes to be achieved. Enable students to acquire theoretical knowledge and practical skills in swimming. Understand and use safety regulations at and on water.

Preliminary Knowledge

Foreground: foundations of dynamic anatomy, foundations of swimming biomechanics, foundations of physiology. Ability to swim at beginnings level.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.Understands the importance of swimming skills: as a life skill; as a way to develop physical qualities in water; as a health-promoting skill.

2.Knowledge of the body’s movement in water and the techniques of teaching swimming styles, teaching aids.

3.Knows the criteria for assessing physical exercises in water. Knows self-assessment in the acquisition of swimming exercises.

Skills

1.Control, regulate, assess: breathing while swimming with body balance moving horizontally in water.

2.Demonstrate various relaxed swimming styles (swimming without lifting the arms out of the water and swimming styles (backstroke, breaststroke, breaststroke, butterfly) and elements of applied swimming (diving, swimming on the side, diving into the water).

3.Plans, manages, evaluates practically the teaching of swimming in the initial phase and the sequence of teaching swimming styles.

Competences

1.Plans, manages and individualises the learning process in a variety of swimming exercises and games, according to all levels of education.

2.Ability to develop clear criteria for assessing the growth of learners (Create test swimming exercises in some stages of learning).

3.Identifies safety hazards and risks in different environments and situations in swimming, takes preventive safety measures.

Prepare for the practical class. Explore, analyze various methods and sequence of exercises in teaching swimming and the sequence of teaching the technique of swimming styles crawl on the back, crawl on the chest, breaststroke, butterfly. Explore gross errors in performance. Demonstrate imitation movements in swimming styles crawl on the back, crawl on the chest, breaststroke, butterfly on land according to breathing.

In the outline, indicate the plan of the lesson. In the introduction, include exercises for the initial stage of teaching. Teaching one or two swimming styles in the correct sequence. Correction of errors during the lesson, effective use of the lane, control of the group. When explaining the tasks, create on land the individual movements and full coordination movements of the swimming styles in accordance with breathing.

Demonstrate skills in each swimming style: breaststroke, butterfly, backstroke, freestyle, swimming 25m, without timing, according to the rules of a certain type of technique. Evaluate the effective movement or deficiencies of the technique of another student / students. For each performance of the swimming style, 1 point is awarded.

Swim 50 or 100 metres brash or raven on the chest technically correctly, breathing with exhalation in the water. To apprehend technical deficiencies for another student/student.
