About Study Course

Objective

To provide knowledge of promotion and preservation of woman’s reproductive health, peculiarities of care in different periods of woman’s life. To create understanding of physiological pregnancy labour and postpartum period.

Preliminary Knowledge

Anatomy, physiology, pathological physiology, interpersonal communication in health care.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.As a result of mastering the course students will be able to tell about the main quality indicators of reproductive health and obstetric assistance, tell about periods of woman’s life and formulate main care needs in these periods, know how to collect reproductive anamnesis, can characterise physiological changes during pregnancy, can describe physiological labour and postpartum period.

Skills

1.As a result of completing the study course, students will be able to collect gynaecological anamnesis, to perform vaginal examination and take a pap smear. Will be able to practically state and explain examination results to a pregnant woman during antenatal care in case of physiological pregnancy, will know how to identify risk factors to prevent pathological course of pregnancy. Will know how to demonstrate physiological labour and evaluate the postpartum period. Will be able to demonstrate basic principles of breastfeeding.

Competences

1.Students will be able to explain patients the need for screening diagnosis, identify pregnancy risk factors, perform antenatal care – prescribe necessary examinations, ensure optimal postpartum care.
