About Study Course

Objective

To prepare laboratory doctors capable of conducting haematological examinations using the latest technology of a medical laboratory. To obtain knowledge on haematological examination methods used in a medical laboratory, interpretation of haematological indicators, critical values of haematological results and their meaning in the selection of further examination tactics.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.- to describe principles of operation of haematological analysers and their use; - to evaluate changes in haematological indicators; - to name and characterise the pathology of the granulocyte line; - to name and characterise the pathology of the lymphocyte and monocyte line; - to name and characterise indicators of anaemia, morphological changes in erythrocytes.

Skills

1.- to perform haematological testing using automated and manual methods; - to perform differentiation of white blood cells (white blood cell count); - to evaluate the morphology of blood cells; - to perform an evaluation of the pathological blood picture.

Competences

1.Examination of blood to learn physiological properties of human body, pathology of diseases, to perform primary differential diagnostics between haematological and other diseases, to evaluate the quality of examinations.
