About Study Course

Objective

Promote the acquisition of knowledge about criteria of mental health and the role of prevention of physical disorders and diseases.

Preliminary Knowledge

Prior knowledge of the anatomy and physiology of nervous system.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.On completion of the study course students will acquire basic knowledge of psychotherapy, techniques of supportive psychotherapy and competence in building therapeutic physiotherapist - patient relationship.

Skills

1.On course completion students will develop skills in building a therapeutic physiotherapist - patient relationship and also to provide emotional support.

Competences

1.Students will be able to understand and analyze the need for psychotherapy in patients with emotional disorders, understand the diagnostic criteria and the need for combination of therapies.

I. Knowledge – ability to define: 60%: 1. Patient mental health criteria (10%) 2. Mental protection mechanisms for patients (10%) 3. Patient personality function levels (5%) 4. Basics for the collection of psychosomatic history (10%) 5. Therapeutic physiotherapist - principles for establishing patient relationships (10%) 6. Principles of diagnosis of psychosomatic disorders, theory of somatisation, treatment (10%) 7. Personality definitions, developmental theories (5%).

II. Skills: 40%: 1. Basics of developing a therapeutic physiotherapist-patient relationship, communicating with patients at different levels (10%) 2. Physiotherapist - patient support therapy elements (10%) 3. Basics for the collection of psychosomatic history (10%) 4. Diagnosis of psychosomatic disorders, differential diagnosis, evaluation of treatment strategies, analysis of clinical cases (10%).

Mid-semester examination

50.00% from total grade
10 points

Final assessment is cumulative. It consists of:

1. Mid-semester examination (50%). At the discretion of the teaching staff:

    • analysis of video material
    • Clinical case Description
    • Open questions at the beginning of the lesson
    • Test
    • preparation of presentation on the topic of the lesson

Final test

50.00% from total grade
10 points

2. Final examination (50%) – an electronised, e-study accessible or face-to-face multi-answer test on topics discussed within the course.

It is possible to count the automatic final test against the following criteria:

    • Mid-semester examination assessment of at least 8 points;
    • No more than 25% of classes are delayed;
    • 100% attendance of classes or reproduction of classes on justifiable grounds
    • independent work at the choice of the teaching staff regarding: (a) the subject of the cycle lesson (literature review); (b) the clinical case; (c) the latest study (according to the subject of the lesson)
