About Study Course

Objective

To train theoretically and practically high-level new specialists to work with children at different ages, to provide knowledge about the principles of children's teeth and bite formation, oral diseases, their prevention and treatment options.

Preliminary Knowledge

Basic knowledge in embryology, dental anatomy, histology, oral disease prevention, pre-clinical training (operative dentistry), cariology, endodontics, periodontology.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.As the result of the study course learning, students will have knowledge of the development of children's teeth and occlusion, children's oral diseases, their prevention and treatment.

Skills

1.As the result of the study course acquisition, students will be able to establish contact with the child and its parents; to eliminate pain and dental anxiety; to treat caries, pulpitis and periodontitis in primary and young permanent teeth depending on the root development stage; to treat dental traumas and most common mucosal diseases in children.

Competences

1.Students will be able to reason and take a clinical decision on patients final diagnosis by interpreting and corelating findings in anamnesis, clinical and radiographic examinations or other diagnostic tests; to choose the best treatment intervention, based on patient's age, treatment needs and level of dental anxiety; to educate the patient and his/her parents about prevention and treatment of oral diseases; to evaluate treatment results and advice additional actions on improving oral health; to communicate with children, their parents / guardians.
