About Study Course

Objective

To ensure the acquisition of theoretical knowledge and practical skills that would correspond to the necessary knowledge about ​​the causes of kidney failure, indications and the selection and preparation of patients for kidney transplantation in order to prepare the doctor for certification in the specialty of transplantology, in accordance with the regulatory documents of the Republic of Latvia.

Knowledge

1.Principles of patient preparation for kidney replacement therapy, indications, principles of patient management during renal replacement therapy, preparation for kidney transplantation.

Skills

1.Determination of indications for renal replacement therapy and timely provision of vascular access and/or peritoneal dialysis catheter, selection of patients for kidney transplantation.

Competences

1.Diagnosis of kidney failure, initiation of renal replacement therapy, patient preparation and inclusion on the waiting list for kidney transplantation.

Mastering the manipulations is not intended. At the end of the cycle, the teacher evaluates the practical skills in a 10-point system, recording it in the resident's book. The test of theoretical knowledge is conducted in writing and is graded in a 10-point system.
