About Study Course
Objective
The course provides advanced knowledge of the interdisciplinary aspects of endodontics and periodontology, developing the resident's ability to diagnose and manage complex endodontic–periodontal lesions, assess tooth restorability and plan treatment in collaboration with periodontists. Residents acquire evidence-based knowledge of surgical and non-surgical treatment approaches to select the most appropriate treatment strategy for each clinical situation and optimise long-term tooth preservation.

Knowledge
1.1.Acquire advanced knowledge of the diagnosis, treatment planning, treatment sequence and long-term prognosis of complex endodontic–periodontal lesions. 2. Acquire knowledge of the indications, contraindications, treatment principles and prognosis of hemisection, root resection and clinical crown lengthening. 3. Acquire knowledge of the role of periodontal surgery in endodontic treatment planning and tooth preservation in complex clinical situations.
Skills
1.1. Diagnose complex endodontic–periodontal lesions, assess treatment prognosis and develop an evidence-based interdisciplinary treatment plan. 2. Evaluate the indications for hemisection, root resection and clinical crown lengthening, and determine their suitability for individual clinical situations. 3. Collaborate with periodontists in treatment planning and select the optimal tooth preservation strategy for complex endodontic and periodontal cases.
Competences
1.1. Integrate theoretical knowledge and practical skills to independently plan interdisciplinary treatment for patients with complex endodontic–periodontal lesions by evaluating treatment options, associated risks and long-term prognosis. 2. Independently make evidence-based clinical decisions regarding the need for periodontal surgical procedures and their role in endodontic treatment to optimise long-term tooth preservation.

Description
The resident acquires advanced knowledge of the management of complex endodontic–periodontal lesions and interdisciplinary treatment planning. The seminar focuses on the sequencing of endodontic and periodontal treatment, indications for combined therapy, the role of periodontal treatment in clinical outcomes, and the factors influencing the long-term prognosis of the tooth. The resident develops the ability to evaluate complex clinical cases, formulate evidence-based treatment plans and collaborate with periodontists to optimise treatment outcomes and long-term tooth preservation. |

Surgical Tooth Preservation Techniques for Multirooted Teeth
Description
The resident acquires advanced knowledge of the indications, contraindications, treatment planning principles and clinical applications of hemisection and root resection as part of comprehensive tooth preservation therapy. The seminar examines patient selection and the influence of anatomical, endodontic, periodontal and restorative factors on treatment choice and long-term prognosis. The resident develops the ability to evaluate the suitability of hemisection and root resection for individual clinical situations, plan interdisciplinary treatment and critically assess treatment outcomes in accordance with current scientific evidence and clinical guidelines. |

Clinical Crown Lengthening
Description
The resident acquires advanced knowledge of the role of clinical crown lengthening in endodontic treatment planning and long-term tooth prognosis. The seminar covers the indications and contraindications for clinical crown lengthening, the importance of the ferrule effect, preservation of the biologic width, and treatment sequencing in collaboration with periodontists. The resident develops the ability to assess the need for clinical crown lengthening, determine its suitability for individual clinical situations, and integrate this procedure into a comprehensive endodontic treatment plan. |
