Knowledge
1.The student will know: • Recognize life-threatening symptoms and syndromes in cases of illness and injury in pediatrics. • Explain the differences in intensive care in pediatrics. • Interpret clinical - biochemical indicators of hypoxia, their correction methods. • To describe the differences in pulmonary artificial ventilation in pediatrics. • Formulate indications for hemodialysis, hemofiltration, hemosorption and hyperbaric oxygenation in pediatrics. • Describing the principles of antibacterial therapy. • use perfusors. • apply non-invasive and invasive artificial lung ventilation methods in pediatrics, using breathing bags and PMV devices, incl. portable. • interpret laboratory examination data. • apply O2 inhalation methods. • take care of the child's respiratory tract, incl. in patients with a tracheostomy. • interpret water-electrolyte and acid-alkaline balance disorders and make corrections. • diagnose multiple organ failure and septic conditions. • apply resuscitation measures according to ACLS algorithms. • draw up a treatment and examination plan in pediatrics for IT patients with neurological and neurosurgical pathology, abdominal pathology and lung pathology, including operated patients, patients with endocrine pathology, cardiac pathology.
Skills
1.Student will be able to: 1. To identify the symptoms and syndromes dangerous for life in disease and trauma cases. 2. To formulate indications and contraindications for placing the patient in the Intense Therapy Department. 3. To elaborate the care taking plan in the intense therapy in pediatrics. 4. To analyse and correct clinically – biochemical hypoxia indices. 5. To examine and monitor intense therapy patients in pediatrics, applying noninvasive and within the bounds of possibilities also the invasive methods. 6. To cathetetrize the central and peripheral veins.
Competences
1.Student will be able to make and realize independently the examination and treatment plan in the conditions crucial for children’s health and life and maintain the child’s vital functions till the moment of specialist’s arrival in emergency situations in prehospital and hospital phase.
