About Study Course
Objective
To strengthen the acquired knowledge in the application of civil law, commercial law, and civil procedure law in practice.
Preliminary Knowledge
Fields: Civil law (including family law, inheritance law, property law, law of obligations, and labour law), commercial law, and civil procedure law.
Learning Outcomes
Knowledge
1.During the placement, the student strengthens his or her knowledge of civil, commercial and civil rights and the application thereof.
Skills
1.To interpret and apply the laws governing civil, commercial and civil procedure law, to solve problems of a legal nature, to carry out legal analysis of situations (to address weddings), to prepare procedural documents independently.
Competences
1.To work independently with legislation, to select it, to select the necessary case law, to justify your opinion, to choose legal arguments, to present your opinion, to discuss.

Familiarise yourself carefully with the placement programme and its requirements, follow the recommendations of the placement supervisor and the heads (officials) of the placement institution; to fulfil placement assignments in a conscientious manner; strictly respect work discipline and Internal rules and Regulations at the Placement; do not disclose information that is not to be disclosed in accordance with laws and regulations (there are limited availability, service, etc.). The course of the placement should be reflected in the placement logbook, where it is necessary to reflect the most important activities that have been carried out on a weekly basis. |

Add at least six documents (drafts thereof) to the placement report, which reflect the statement process, actions performed during the placement and drafts of prepared procedural documents, placement logbook, assessment of the head of the placement place. The results of the placement shall be summarised in a placement report to be submitted within the time period specified in the study plan. The assessment of the placement consists of the following components: - resolution of the wedding - 20%; assessment of the head of the placement - 20%; assessment of oral defence of the placement - 60%. The defence of the placement consists of two parts - the written part and the oral part. In the written part, the student must resolve the wedding, in the oral part - present the prepared placement report, reflecting the skills acquired and strengthened during the placement in the application of the legal framework and the preparation of procedural documents. The student may defend the oral part of the defence of the placement if a successful assessment has been received in the written part of the defence of the placement. |

Application of Civil Law, Civil Procedure Law, and Commercial Law in Legal Practice
Description
In preparation for a practice in the field of civil law and civil proceedings, the student shall carry out research of the regulatory framework, case law and scientific sources of law regarding the application of the norms of civil law and civil procedure in practice. The independent work must identify and analyse current legislation (for example, Civil Law, Civil Procedure Law, Notariate Law, etc.), study appropriate case law in the Latvian judicial portal and databases (for example, Likumi.lv, Latvijas Vestnesis, archive of court judgments), as well as evaluate the main problems arising in the application of norms. |
