About Study Course

Objective

Ensure the acquisition and expansion of theoretical knowledge and practical skills in acute and chronic surgical diseases in order to provide skilled emergency care when needed.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.Based on the acquired in-depth knowledge, will be able to: a) name and describe any nosological unit of abdominal pathology, b) describe the main principles of the treatment, c) evaluate the results of treatment, d) predict the course and outcome of the pathology and its possible side effects.

Skills

1.Will be able to: a) examine a patient with a surgical pathology, b) summarise the clinical manifestations and assess the severity of the patient's condition, and prescribe an additional examination plan and choose the appropriate treatment, c) examine the patient "per rectum", if necessary, d) in case of ascites of the abdominal cavity, perform an abdominal puncture, e) perform emergency minor surgery in surgical patients.

Competences

1.Using the knowledge acquired, the student will be able to: a) interpret the data obtained from the examination of a patient and establish and formulate a diagnosis, b) perform differential diagnosis to specify the pathology, c) develop an accurate treatment and rehabilitation plan in the event of any abdominal pathology; d) make a reasoned choice of treatment plan in cases of "acute abdomen".

To expand the knowledge of abdominal injuries and diseases and their treatment methods by studying the latest literature; and to prepare a presentation on the topic, to present it to the students or to clinicians. To strengthen some practical skills on the simulator in the Department of Surgery.

Upon completion of the course the student answers in writing two theoretical questions. The student reports on the practical skills learnt by presenting a list of them and performing a certain manipulation on the simulator in the department.
