Objective

To give students an insight into the research and development of new drugs

Preliminary Knowledge

Physiology, organic chemistry, pharmacology, pharmacognosy, physical and colloidal chemistry, medical chemistry.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.Basic knowledge and about processes and steps in the modern drug discovery and development process.

1.Ability to explain different stages of the drug discovery process, competence in managerial and economic aspects of drug discovery process.

1.Understanding of the process of modern drug discovery, its costs, problems and current trends in pharmaceutical industry in Latvia and worldwide.
