About Study Course

Objective

To give the opportunity to gain knowledge about the structure of the human body and to develop an understanding of the functions of organs systems, focusing on the organs of the head, neck and thoracic cavity.

Preliminary Knowledge

Knowledge in all disciplines of biology at the level of the secondary school programme.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.Upon completion of the course the student will be able to determine systems of internal organs of the body and organs; will be able to describe their structure, topography and general functions; will know blood supply, innervation and lymphatic drainage of several organs of the head and neck; will know part of terminology in Latin.

Skills

1.The student will be able to recognise and show organs, their parts and other anatomical structures in teaching materials used in Anatomy studies.

Competences

1.The student will be able to work with special literature for advanced specialisation, will be able to use knowledge in the analysis of clinical examples.

To successfully acquire the study course material and prepare for the final examination of the study course, the student performs the following activities: 1. Active participation in practical classes, passing tests provided for in them (20%). 2. The regular and constant acquisition of the mentioned theoretical literature (10%). 3. Oral presentation of independent work (20%). 4. Written exam (50%). Actively participate in practical classes, pass the planned tests. Requirements: The student actively participates in all practical classes, productively participates in discussions of the situation analysis on a specific issue, problem, can substantiate and defend his / her opinion, uses appropriate terminology and refers to the read literature sources. Pass the planned tests successfully and on time. Independently read the indicated literature sources and prepare a report or presentation on a specific topic within the specified time limits. Requirements: To acquaint other students with a specific topic, using comprehensible, sequential information and emphasizing the most important, supplementing the story with examples and illustrating with appropriate teaching aids (skull, muscles of the head and neck and organs preparations). During the report or presentation, try to involve the other classmates by asking them separate questions or tasks, and at the end make a summary of the specific topic. Exam grade is applied only for students who have passed all the requirements and tests of the course. Exam grade is cumulative.
