About Study Course

Objective

Develop students’ understanding of the theoretical basics, key models and case formulation principles of cognitive and behavioural approaches, as well as develop the ability to analyse and evaluate the use of CBT approaches in dealing with anxiety and mood difficulties in the context of health psychology.

Preliminary Knowledge

Study courses Clinical Psychology, study of cognitive processes and personality, psychological counselling (individual and systemic approach) have been acquired.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.Defines basic concepts and theoretical principles of cognitive and behavioural approaches. Clarifies the principles for the formulation of the CBT case. Describes the objectives of cognitive and behavioural approach techniques and their application.

Skills

1.Critically analyse a client’s difficulties using conceptualization principles of cognitively biheivioral approach and empirically based psychological models. Formulate individual cognitive biheivioral case conceptualization by integrating client issues, predisposing, sustaining, and protective factors. Choose, justify and adapt cognitive biheivioral counselling techniques and techniques according to client needs, consultation goals, and scientific evidence. Demonstrate professional skills in the application of cognitive biheivioral intervention methods through a collaborative consultation process and structured consultation. Integrate knowledge and evidence-based interventions from different areas of psychology to address complex psychological problems in the counselling process. Evaluate the effectiveness of the cognitive biheivioral counseling process by analyzing the client’s progress, the results of interventions, and the necessary changes to the counseling plan. Reflect on their professional activities by reassessing the consultation process, the professional decisions taken and the possibilities to improve cognitively biheivioral counselling practice.

Competences

1.Independently develops case conceptualization (vicious circle) and identifies appropriate cognitive and behavioral intervention strategies for anxiety and depression disorders. Links concepts of cognitive and behavioural approaches to real-life situations. Used in the identification, evaluation and restructuring of negative automatic thoughts of cognitive and behavioural techniques.
