Preliminary Knowledge

Anatomy, physiology and pathology of the abdominal cavity, breast and endocrine organs; basics of propaedeutics.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.After successfully completing the study course, the student will have acquired knowledge and will be able to describe the etiology, pathogenesis, prevention of surgical diseases discussed in lectures and classes, recognize the clinical picture and possible complications of these diseases, list modern clinical, laboratory and instrumental examination methods, as well as describe the surgical treatment of these diseases methods and indications for their application.

Skills

1.Upon successful completion of the course students will be able to: - collect patient's complaints and anamnesis; - perform physical examination of the patient using palpation, percussion and auscultation; - perform breast physical examination

Competences

1.Upon successful completion of the course students will be able to: - analyse a surgical case; - prepare laboratory and instrumental investigation plan for the patient; interpret and analyse data acquired during the surgical patient examination; - formulate and justify a full clinical diagnosis; - prepare treatment plan for the specific clinical case; - formulate indications for surgical and conservative treatment.

Individual work

-
-
- While preparing for the class, student must complete self-control task - clinical case - available under each topic in E-studies. - After each class student completes the control test (quiz) about the corresponding topic. - During the surgical cycle the students hand-in description of one surgical patient (patient examination protocol) (if possible due to the epidemiological situation in hospitals; information will be given during the surgery cycle). - Student writes an academic case report (if possible due to the epidemiological situation in hospitals; information will be given during the surgery cycle). In order to evaluate the quality of the study course as a whole, the student must fill out the study course evaluation questionnaire on the Student Portal.
