About Study Course

Objective

To ensure acquisition and improvement of theoretical knowledge and practical skills in according to the requirements of the paediatric cardiology speciality regulations to prepare doctors for certification in the speciality of paediatric cardiology according to regulatory documents of the Republic of Latvia.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.In the study programme, one should acquire detailed theoretical knowledge about heart rhythm disorders, diagnosis and treatment methods thereof.

Skills

1.Able to analyse electrocardiogram and Holter monitoring results. Understands the indications for performing electrophysiological examinations, knows how to prepare the patient for examinations and provide care after the procedures. Able to evaluate the efficiency of the pacemaker, able to program the parameters of the pacemaker, according to the age of the child and the type of stimulation.

Competences

1.As a result of completing the study programme, understands the aetiology, pathogenesis, and symptoms of heart rhythm disorders. As a result of completing the study programme, can independently, using the acquired knowledge and modern technologies, perform patient care for children of different ages with heart rhythm disorders.
