About Study Course

Objective

To promote the knowledge and practical skills, competencies in the management of physiological pregnancy.

Preliminary Knowledge

Preliminary knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathological physiology and pharmacology is required.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.As a result of the completion of study course the students are able to report on the main quality indices of the antenatal care, have gained understanding on the pregnancy process and fetus development, are able to describe normal pregnancy process, characterize the physiological changes in the process of pregnancy, know the identification of risk factors, significance of perinatal diagnostics and invasive methods of diagnostics, are able to explain the US importance in monitoring of physiological pregnancy, and understand the role of midwife in the management of physiological pregnancy.

Skills

1.As a result of the completion of study course, the students will be able to diagnose the pregnancy practically, to refer a pregnant woman to medical tests and explain the test results during the antenatal care and in case of physiological pregnancy, to make surveillance of physiological pregnancy (the care of pregnant women according to regulations of Cabinet of Ministers), to be able to identify risk factors in order to promote the quality of maternal and child's health.

Competences

1.The students are capable to carry out the basic antenatal care – to diagnose pregnancy practically, refer to the required tests, ensure optimal management of pregnancy, to refer to the necessary clinical procedures.

Students' attendance will be assessed (classes require 100% attendance) and active participation in classes, independent works in e-studies will be submitted and successfully assessed in time, the test will be successfully passed. Students who have submitted independent works in e-studies within the specified deadlines, who have successfully assessed and successfully passed the test, are admitted to pass the final examination (exam). At the end of the study course – an exam with theoretical questions and situational tasks. The evaluation of the study course consists of: timely submitted and successfully evaluated independent work in e-studies (20%), successfully passed the test (30%), final examination – exam (50%).
