About Study Course

Objective

Promote students’ understanding of the use of evidence-based methods in rehabilitation with children and young people, investigation of paediatric patients and therapy planning in the context of SFK within the framework of a multidisciplinary approach.

Preliminary Knowledge

General basic knowledge in medical rehabilitation and understanding of the child's normal and pathological development. English language skills (must be able to read and analyze scientific literature).

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.Demonstrate in-depth knowledge and understanding of the concept of evidence-based practice in the practice of a rehabilitation specialist in pediatrics, the application of the ICF concept in patient examination and treatment planning.

2.Thorough understanding of the principles and applicability of multidisciplinary cooperation models in paediatric rehabilitation

3.Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of the role of early intervention and transition period (Transition) in promoting functional independence.

Skills

1.Able to formulate a research question, conduct information searches, critically analyse and evaluate the level of evidence.

2.Able to select evidence-based methods of assessment and therapy of paediatric patients using sound reasoning in their selection.

3.Able to develop multidisciplinary rehabilitation strategies in case analysis format by collaborating between physiotherapy, occupational therapy and audiologopedia perspectives.

4.Able to analyse and interpret children’s functional conditions based on case descriptions and plan and evaluate individual rehabilitation goals in theoretical scenarios using SMART principles and ICF classification.

Competences

1.Apply synthesis of experience, knowledge and scientific evidence in rehabilitation specialist practice. Planning of continuity research in pediatric rehabilitation services and interdisciplinar cooperation to support social and medical rehabilitation for children with functional disorders, including transition to the adult life.

  1. Preparing for regular classes according to the topic.
  2. Independent work in small groups on the specified topic in the context of the investigation of paediatric patients in the context of the SFC, respecting the principles of evidence-based practice and clinical judgement.
  3. Independent work in small groups, clinical case analysis - setting therapeutic objectives and drawing up a therapy plan in accordance with the principles of evidence-based practice and clinical judgement.

Final assessment of the study course shall be constructed in a comical manner:

  1. Development and presentation of a clinical case in relation to a multiprofessional approach in the investigation of children with disabilities, the setting of therapeutic objectives and therapy planning (30%)
  2. Development of independent work on Transition (30%)
  3. Development of independent work and presentation on the use of assistive technologies and specific treatment methods in paediatric rehabilitation (30%)
  4. Active participation in classes (10%)
