Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.Knowledge of mutual interconnection of sports medicine as a multidisciplinary field of medicine and functional diagnostics in sport. Acquisition of thorough theoretical and practical knowledge regarding functioning of the body during rest and physical load, knowledge about prevention, diagnosis, treatment methods of different common diseases, physical activities individually adjusted to such patients, restrictions of physical activity.

Skills

1.Skills to purposefully choose the most suitable examination methods in case of diseases or trauma, assess examination results and develop a treatment plan for different patients.

Competences

Theoretical knowledge is acquired in 2 seminars and individual work with literature. During practical classes students monitor patients under the supervision of a physician eligible to provide such training, participate in examination, assessment and treatment of a patient by mastering patient examination, diagnostic and therapeutic manipulations. A medical resident acquires different methods of functional diagnostics used in sports medicine, manipulations to be performed, methodology of invasive and non-invasive medical technologies used in sport medicine physicians’ practice.
