About Study Course

Objective

To promote the acquisition of knowledge and understanding of the basic principles of prevention and control of health care infections, as well as to develop students' scientific, critical and analytical thinking about the versatility of hygiene and infection prevention in the context of health care institutions.

Preliminary Knowledge

Bbiology, chemistry, microbiology

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.Students know the basic issues and terms of epidemiology, the basics of specific and non-specific prevention of infectious diseases, infection control methods and their application and provision in outpatient and inpatient health care, principles and solutions of the anti-epidemic regime.

Skills

1.Students apply supportive regulations for infection control. Model the acquired skills related to infection control methods and their application and provision, prevention measures in the context of the skills specified in the professional standard of a medical assistant.

Competences

1.As a result of the study course, the student analyzes situations and synthesizes the possibility to work successfully in the context of infection control, integrating knowledge, skills and legislation relevant to the situation.

Summative assessment: At the end of the study course a written exam (40%), which includes the theoretical content of the semester, 30% assessment of the independent presentation of works, + 30% assessment of the situation analysis. A 10-point system is used for the assessment of students' knowledge and skills, using the assessment system described in the RSU Study Regulations I.
