About Study Course

Objective

1) acquire theoretical principles of environmental health concerning the role of pollution and adverse and harmful factors of various environmental components (air, water, soil), their impact on health, their identification, evaluation, control, prevention or reduction; 2) acquire theoretical principles of occupational medicine and occupational health on the impact of various occupational risk factors on the health of employees, their prevision, identification, evaluation, control, prevention or reduction.

Preliminary Knowledge

Knowledge of chemistry, physics, biology and physiology.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.• of the role of environmental health, its principles, directions, tasks and application in practice; • of the air, water and soil as ecological components of the environment, their pollution and preventive measures to reduce the pollution; • of the role of occupational medicine and occupational hygiene, their principles, directions and tasks; • of the impact of occupational factors on the body, development of preventive measures and monitoring of the work environment.

Skills

1.• independently, critically analyse, be able to find information and data, apply reasoning to justify own point of view while identifying environmental and occupational health hazards and assess their role in maintaining and strengthening the person’s health; • identify occupational risk factors and carry out the occupational risk assessment, as well as evaluate their potential impact on the human body.

Competences

1.• provide a qualitative description and analysis of issues related to environment and occupational medicine; • develop and describe recommendations and measures in order to prevent or reduce the environmental and occupational health hazards providing the optimum interaction between the human organism and the environment.
